The Embodied Reader: A Novel Approach to Movement and Mindfulness for the Book Lover

How do you cross train your body & mind when your sport is reading? Come join us for a fun, experiential offering from Jennifer Speiden, certified yoga therapist. We will gather some self-care practices to help support your next literary marathon.

In our time together, we’ll explore and learn:

  • Simple, accessible movements that can help release tension that accumulates in the neck, shoulders, wrists, back, hips, and legs while reading.

  • Tools to help you take care of and support the longevity of the sense organs of reading: the eyes and ears (audio books).

  • Practices to help you mindfully navigate the transition between the world of the book and your present moment environment.

Please know that for this introductory offering, all of the practices shared can be done seated in a chair and / or standing behind a chair. We will not be getting on the floor, so no yoga mat is needed. Please just bring yourself, a curious mind, and a desire to invite your body, more mindfully, into your reading adventures.
