Ed Falco, Kayla Jean, and Evan Lavender-Smith at the Blacksburg Public Library

We'll be over at the Blacksburg Public Library to hear not one, not two, but THREE fantastic local authors read from their recent works!

Ed Falco is the author of a dozen books, including novels, short story collections, and poetry. A recipient of the Robert Penn Warren Prize in Poetry from the Southern Review and the Emily Clark Balch Prize for Fiction from the Virginia Quarterly Review, he teaches in the MFA program in creative writing at Virginia Tech. From discursive essay-poems to tightly constructed lyrics, Ed Falco’s X in the Tickseed examines a world that reveals itself through its mysteries, reflecting upon the ephemeral nature of all things.

Kayla Jean is a writer from southcentral Pennsylvania. Her chapbook, Cheap Seats, was published by Blue Arrangements in 2023. Her writing has appeared in Joyland, New World Writing, and other places.

Evan Lavender-Smith is the author of From Old Notebooks and Avatar. His writing has been praised in Bookforum, The Guardian, Harper’s, The Irish Times, The Times Literary Supplement, Vice, and other national and international media outlets. The founding editor of Noemi Press, he lives in Blacksburg, VA, and teaches in the MFA program in Creative Writing at Virginia Tech.
